How much can a Matrice 300 lift?
Equipped with object detection sensors on each side, the Matrice 300 is indeed intended for data collection and projects requiring aerial surveys. This helps to explain its substantial total weight: with a lower pod and two batteries, the device is around 6.3 kilos. But the drone can receive up to three camera pods and up to 2.7 kilos of payload, giving a maximum total weight at takeoff of 9 kilos.
Is the Matrice 300 waterproof ?
In order to provide a solution, the M300 RTK drone has undergone several laboratory tests by the Centre Testing International Group Co. Ltd. to obtain IP45 certification, which means it is :
- Protected against objects >1.0 mm ;
- Protected against water sprayed in jets, 12.5 mm (0.49 in), against the housing in any direction.
These various tests were performed in a controlled environment and it is difficult to establish a direct correspondence with real environmental conditions. The M300 RTK’s IP45 rating suggests that short-term emergency missions will not be interrupted by light to moderate rain, although it is never advisable to fly your aircraft when it is raining.
How to interpret the protection indexes ?
In order to be as transparent as possible with consumers and to protect them from marketing terms such as “water resistant”, an international electrotechnical commission has established a system of particle intrusion protection (IP) ratings for electronic enclosures.
The IP ratings are composed of two numbers, the first refers to solids and the second to liquids. For your information, the numbers range from 0 to 6 for solids and from 0 to 9 for moisture, the higher the value, the greater the protection.
What about the DJI Matrice 30 ?
In the spring of 2022, DJI is launching a new drone: the Matrice 30 or 30T. This aircraft is capable of withstanding the elements, accompanied by ambitious accessories, it is primarily intended for professionals such as law enforcement, mountain rescuers, firefighters or even construction specialists.

What’s the price of the Matrice 30 ?
It is already possible to pre-order the DJI Matrice 30 (M30). However, the date of marketing has not yet been communicated.
